The H. C. Johnson PTO is very active. We plan and execute dozens of family and school events and fundraisers each year. Our volunteers donate thousands of person-hours to our school. We respond to teacher and administration needs to fund necessary and cutting-edge educational and physical facility needs at the school. We bring our families closer together through fun events throughout the school year. Without the PTO, there would be no yearbook, no 5th grade dance, no class trips, no STEM lab, no Book Fairs, and no spirit wear.  But we can’t do it without help from as many volunteers as possible.  Learn how you can help on our Volunteer page.  You’re improving your child’s education and engagement with the school community.

Did you know that the H. C. Johnson PTO:

  • holds more than 40 events every school year
  • has more than 35 committees
  • pays for all the school field trips
  • pays for all assemblies
  • purchased Promethean Board for APR
  • provided the funds to equip our new STEM lab
  • raises approximately $20,000 every year for our school’s needs
  • paid for 30 Chromebooks (laptops) in 2014-15
  • licensed Writers Workshop and Readers Workshop for all our students
  • provides hospitality and twice-yearly luncheons to thank our teachers and staff
  • sponsors and staffs three Book Fairs and school pictures
  • runs the Holiday Shop and Mother’s Day Plant Sale
  • purchases planners for all 3rd-5th grade students
  • sponsors all the 5th grade activities
  • creates the yearbook
  • and more…

Here are some of the beautiful, heartfelt, and very specific cards, artworks, and essays (!) we received from Johnson children in the Spring of 2016 thanking the PTO for its work throughout the year. You can see just how much our work means to them. If you have been on the fence about getting involved with the PTO, just look at what it means to the kids.  Bring your ideas to the next meeting or email PTOJohnson@jacksonsd.org.
